Risignolo Estate
Salemi

The estate

The Risignolo Estate covers about 35 hectares in the Salemi area, in the province of Trapani. Here, wine is the backbone of a great cultural tradition, particularly for the production of native white grapes such as Grillo and Insolia. The climate is characterized by mild winters and very dry summers, with important temperature ranges.

Cultivated varieties

The Salemi area, because of its climate and agronomic conditions, is particularly suited for the cultivation of white grape varieties. Prominent among them are Grillo, a vine particularly widespread in western Sicily, and Insolia, one of the island’s oldest vines.

Insolia

Is one of Sicily’s oldest grape varieties, which is why it is widely spread on the island.

The plant is medium vigorous with medium to large leaves. The cluster is medium to large, pyramidal in shape with thick-skinned berries that are golden yellow or amber in color.

Grillo

Grillo is probably the result of a successful cross between Catarratto and Zibibbo.

The plant is vigorous with medium to large leaves. The cluster is conical with medium to large berries with a thick green-yellow skin with orange-pink hues on the exposed parts.

Zibibbo

Cultivated in Sicily presumably since the Phoenix times, the name is of Arab derivation.

The plant is medium vigorous with medium leaves. The grape is cilindric in shape with large acines of a grey yellow tending to golden color.
