When you want to enjoy a good wine, the glass makes quite a difference. An unsuitable, or worse still, odorous glass could prevent the wine from expressing itself to the full. If you are not professionals but still want to take good care of your glasses, here are some small tricks:
– If you don’t want to wash your glasses by hand and prefer to use a dishwasher, choose a liquid detergent. This is to prevent the slightly abrasive effect of powder which could scratch your precious glasses in the long run.
– Once washed, dry them carefully with a cloth and place them head down on a shelf or in a box to prevent dust from collecting inside them.
– When you know you are going to use them, take them out at least half an hour before and leave them to air. This will ensure any smells or scents from where they have been stored can dissipate.
– Before pouring the wine, however, make sure the glasses are odourless. The smell of cardboard or scents from the place they have been stored could cover or even modify the aroma of the wine you dream of tasting!
