2016 also proved to be year with a wealth of awards for Florio, Corvo and Duca di Salaparuta wines from prestigious Italian Wine Guides and international Magazines. Duca Enrico, an icon of Italian and international winemaking, was awarded impressive scores from all over the world. Wine Enthusiast, a benchmark not only for a restricted Club of super experts, but also for a vast readership of wine lovers, awarded Duca Enrico 2010 94 Points and included it among its Top 100 Cellar Selections 2016. It also achieved the Guida Bibenda Vini e Ristoranti d’Italia’s Five Bunches of Grapes for its 2013 vintage and 93 points from the Guida Oro I Vini di Veronelli for its 2012 vintage.
Great recognition also for Florio, beginning with the rare Aegusa 1994 semi-dry Marsala Riserva, which was awarded 97 points by the prestigious American publication Wine Advocate to make it the only Italian in its world’s top 20 Extraordinary Wines. Florio’s other marsalas also captured the attention of renowned professionals however…
The elegant Florio Superiore Riserva Marsala Donna Franca was awarded the highest possible points by Vitae (4 GRAPES) and by the Guida Bibenda Vini e Ristoranti d’Italia (5 Bunches of Grapes) as well as 93 points by the Guida Oro I Vini di Veronelli and Wine Advocate. Targa Riserva 1840 (2003 vintage) was awarded 93+ Points by Wine Advocate, which also awarded 92 Points to Vergine Terre Arse 2002 marsala. Targa Riserva 1840 marsala (2005 vintage) received a Crown from Guida Vinibuoni d’Italia, and 92 points from the Guida Oro I Vini di Veronelli, which also awarded 94 points to Vergine Terre Arse 2004 marsala. An excellent result for Florio, which was awarded the prestigious Tastevin Sicilia 2016 by the Italian Sommelier’s Association.
Finally, standing out among them all, is Gambero Rosso’s Guida Bere Bene Low Cost(Low Cost Good Drinking Guide) Quality/Price Oscar awarded to Calanìca Frappato&Syrah, proof of the great quality of Duca di Salaparuta wines in every price range. 2016 has been a year with a wealth of satisfaction for the Duca di Salaparuta Group, both in Italy and abroad, where it is increasingly among the leading players on the international wine scene.
